Salman oil field is located in Hormozgan province, 144 km from Lavan Island, and shares reserves with Abol Bukhosh field in the UAE. This field was discovered during the Lavan oil activity in 1960 and its first exploratory well was dug in 1965. Salman oil field has 44 oil wells and 10 gas wells. The oil extracted from the Salman field is transported to Lavan Island and stored for export or to feed the Lavan refinery complex. The amount of oil that can be extracted from the Salman field is about 1.6 billion barrels.
