The Umaoya Hydropower Plant Project in Sri Lanka has been implemented for the purpose of water transfer, electricity generation and usage in the agricultural industry. The project is located in the southeast of Sri Lanka in the highlands of Oya province. The aim of this project is to produce 120 megawatts of electricity and transfer water amounting to 145 cubic meters per minute. It will be used in the agricultural sector, which can be increased up to 700 cubic meters per minute.
The project includes two roller concrete dams. The first dam was built on the Uma Oya river in Pahol Pola area. Water from the Uma Oya river is poured into the Diraba dam reservoir through a 3.7 km long tunnel (transfer tunnel) on the Mahatotila Oya river. From there, a long water supply tunnel of about 15.2 kilometers will transfer water to an underground power plant. The water in the power plant is directed by a tunnel with an approximate length of 3.6 kilometers to the Alikuta Oya river, which is a branch of the Kirindi Oya river.
In this project, this company has cooperated with Farab Company for the production of cable trays and ladders and supporting systems.
